The Hurley Farm, Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry

The Bed and Breakfast business was started by Eileen Hurley in 1958 in the old family farmhouse with husband Thomas who had a small dairy farm. In 1968 they built a bungalow to upgrade the accommodation which was shortly afterwards approved by Bord Failte. In 1988 this bungalow was extended and upgraded again. It was designed by son Martin with comfort and style in mind.
Most bedrooms are en suite and are decorated with style and some high quality furniture. The rooms are spacious, with that inviting look which he created. Guests are invited to use the sitting room, which has tea/coffee making facilities.
Good food goes with good company. Each day begins with a hearty Irish breakfast prepared by Eileen and daughter Mary who manages the farmhouse. It is approved by the Irish Tourist Board and is AA recommended with a 3 diamond rating. It also has been recommended in many other guide books and magazines over the years.

The Hurley farm is located 11km west of Dingle town. The farm is nestled at the foot of the mountains, Mount Brandon to the right, Smerwick Harbour, with the Three Sisters jutting out of the North Atlantic. Farther out are the Blasket Islands and Sybil Head. The area is rich in archaeological sites.
One and a half miles to the fishing village of Ballydavid, where an angling trip can be arranged. The pubs in the Village serve food during the tourist season. There are also two restaurants within walking distance from the house.
There is an 18 hole golf course at Ballyferriter, four miles away; bicycles can be hired on a daily or weekly basis.
From Dingle boat trips can be had to see Fungi the Dingle Dolphin or go horseback riding.
Gaelic is the language of the day. It is an area rich in culture.
